Tasty in a way that a real hamburger could never be, the cake pop hamburger is actually quite delicious!
The "Bun" is cake covered in tinted candy melts, with sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
The "Meat" is also chocolate cake.
The "Lettuce" is coconut tinted green.
The "Cheese" is a flattened orange Tootsie Roll.
And the "Ketchup" is Wilton Decorating Gel.
Put it all together and you've got a very yummy cake pop hamburger, or perhaps a fun little slider, if you will.
Now, of course hamburgers aren't really made with ham. And some of you may even know that it actually gets its name from Hamburg, Germany, where it was created. Of course, it didn't become the hamburger we all know and love until Americans started serving it on a bun with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, grilled onions, mushrooms, BBQ sauce, etc.
In our house we are partial to Bobby Flay's Trattoria Burger.
It's fairly simple and inspired from an Italian classic;
Meat, Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil, drizzled with Olive Oil and Vinegar.
I can't think of a better way to celebrate today!
