Carnival Day

These clowns were inspired from the book Cake Pops by Bakerella.

I used French burnt peanut candies for the hair, Gummy Life Savers for the collars, and the ends of sugar cones for the hats.

In real life clowns kinda scare me, but not these little guys. They're as fun to eat as they are to look at!

On this day in 1836 Samuel Colt received a patent for the first pistol, which was the Colt Revolver.
That doesn't mean a whole lot to me...in fact, I was trying to come up with something else to do today, but apparently this is the only thing happening.

I made bullet cake pops because I didn't want to make guns, in fact the gun in the picture is a toy gun we borrowed from a neighbor. The closest thing my boys get to play with are good old fashioned Nerf guns!

Tortilla Chip Day

We're always looking for a reason to celebrate, so let's just call this one a warm up for Cinco de Mayo!

I rolled out the cake in between wax paper and cut it into triangles instead of the traditional ball.

I covered them in yellow melting chocolate and sprinkled with crushed chocolate jimmies.

Enjoy with a margarita, but I would advise against dipping these in salsa!

Wild Card Wednesday - Mini Van Mom Day

I've decided that one Wednesday each month I am going to create my own day!

I'm calling them "Wild Card Wednesday's"

Today is really International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day, but I thought I'd skip that and create a day that is near and dear to my heart.

Mini Van Mom Day!

We're a mini van family and darn proud of it.

We rock a '96 Ford Windstar. Yup.

It suits us well, but I don't know if I'd necessarily call it our "Swagger Wagon".

Walking the Dog Day

These were fun to make! The dog noses are mini M&M's cut in half, and the best part is that the girl's hair AND the dog ears are made from rolled out Tootsie Rolls. I do this instead of using fondant like you see out there on other cake pops. This gives the same effect and is much yummier!

To make it more realistic, I suppose I could have used the full Tootsie Roll log for something else, but that wouldn't have been very yummy at all.....

So get out there and walk your dog today.

Don't forget your plastic bag!

Love Your Pet Day

It's a double celebration day!

Cherry Pie Day

This one was tough to execute. I tried my hardest not to make this look like a pizza!

To make individual pieces I cut the cake with an apple slicer first before putting them on the stick.

I used red M&M's for the "cherries".

The big cherry in the middle is coated with red sugar sprinkles.

Sugar sprinkles are awesome. They make everything pop!

National Battery Day

To make the batteries I covered the cake with Marzipan Almond Candy Dough to give it a smooth texture and to try something different. I colored it with food coloring first, and then applied it to the cake pops.

I gotta admit though, I didn't really feel a connection with "Battery Day". But that's okay because I'll just keep going and going and going...
