Bake Sale - Pops for a Purpose

Cake pops have honestly been the last thing on my mind this week. Unfortunately, my neighborhood and community has been stricken with a terrible tragedy that is almost too horrible to comprehend.
For those of you who haven't already heard about the Powell boys, Braden an Charlie, here is a link to the story. All I can say is that they were taken from this earth far too soon at the hand of their father.

I never really got to know the boys, though I did meet them once, and saw them around the neighborhood frequently. Charlie went to the same school as my kids, and participated in an after school program with them too. To say that it's been rough week for everyone around here would be an understatement. I've never seen so many puffy eyes, hugs, and acts of kindness as everyone tries to understand something so terrible.

In an effort to raise money to support the Cox Family the neighborhood has planned a bake sale for tomorrow, and I made these cake pops for that purpose. I was told by school staff Charlie had dreams of
being a farmer when he grew up. So, with Charlie's interests in mind, I felt it was fitting to donate farm animal cake pops. I hope he would have liked them.

Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

If you're interested in supporting the Cox Family, memorial contributions can be made to any Wells Fargo Bank to the
Charles and Braden Powell Memorial Fund.
